Does anyone know what files determine the key mapping of a keyboard? I and
some others have a problem with the dual stroke French characters. It does
not matter what keyboard is used, but something seems to alter the key
mapping in the French language.
I suspect corrupted key mapping files....but what files??
Or is anyone aware, what else could be the cause?
Thank you for any information
Remove the tripple SSS in the e-mail address. Added to reduce spam.I take it you went to Control Panel > Keyboard > Input
Locale (whatever it is named in Win98) and added French as
a language? If you have an icon in your system tray with
an "EN" you could try using that as well.

I posted a message some time ago. I do not remember which
newsgroup I used. It could have been general or internet

a search for my email address in the 3 newsgroups and got
a message that an error had occurred and to contact the
system admin. Did I do something wrong? If you used the same name when posting, do a search for the name rather than
the e-mail address.

Since I use 98SE Lite, FFox 3 would not install since I have the

Many people report success using it with normal 98SE, so I would
go back to pure 98SE and try reinstalling KEx. But seeing as how
little it does, personally, I would just make a dual-boot 98/XP

extremely easy and trouble free. Frankly, I see no point

computer locking up on shutdown, someone suggested I

double click them. What could the problem be?I believe you will need to reinstall your programs... Windows tends to
overwrite the registry, desired effect when one has the problem you seem to
have had, thus losing the information about installed programs. There is a
way to reinstall Win without ending up with a totally new registry, but by
the same token, you would keep the problems within as well.
I sure hope that some else has a better solution for you than mine...
