sound makes computer freeze

Microsoft Windows 98

I am having a problem with my computer freezing whenever a
sound is played. The smaller the file seems to do better
but most mp3 files, regardless of the player, will make it
freeze.

I updated the driver via the window update site, although
it said the newest one was already installed. Other than
this freeze there are no other issues.

When the sound makes it freeze it will not do anything,
not even control+alt+delete and I have to reboot. When I
reboot by turning the power off and it detects the hard
drive, CD, mouse, and keyboard but then says "Memory Test
Fail!" and does not load windows.

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Some thing is telling you have you possibly have some bad RAM memory.
